George Catlett Marshall Jr. was a former United States Secretary of State and Secretary of Defense under President Harry S. Truman. The Marshall Plan to rebuild Europe was named for George C. Marshall and it was one of his most famed accomplishments. Marshall was also Chief of Staff of the United States Army multiple times under Presidents Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Harry S. Truman. He once said: "Military power wins battles, but spiritual power wins wars."
